To the beautiful, young, wild and free, child of God… to the daughter in her fifties… to the son in his teens, to the dreamer who can’t seem to wake up… this is for you. <3Have you ever noticed that when night falls, something shifts inside of you? Some people automatically see dark and think “bedtime”, while on the contrary, others see it as the perfect time to “wake up!” Some live under the stars their entire lives never truly looking up, never seeing the wonder of the magical galaxies staring down at them; others spend their entire lives wishing they could be up there with all the stars in their magnificence, glowing and shining, resting and being free. There’s something about the night – how it brings out something different in us in that gradual shift from glory to glory. Some would love it to last forever, and others would wish it forever away if they could. But I’m here to tell you, there’s beauty in the dark; there’s still hope in the night. The goal isn’t for the night to end, but for [you] to [begin.] Dreaming in the dark is not a mere fleeting thought to feel happy again, it’s a war and a race, pressing on towards the prize of the high calling God has before you. For in the night, we are faced with something far greater than the destiny around us, we are faced with the God within us… and we must wrestle until we see who He says we are.

In the night there is intimacy.

In the night there is creativity.

In the night there is revelatory truth that awaits.

Genesis 32: 22-28 reads:That night Jacob got up and took his two wives, his two female servants and his eleven sons and crossed the ford of the Jabbok. After he had sent them across the stream, he sent over all his possessions. So Jacob was left alone, and a man wrestled with him till daybreak. When the man saw that he could not overpower him, he touched the socket of Jacob’s hip so that his hip was wrenched as he wrestled with the man. Then the man said, “Let me go, for it is daybreak.” But Jacob replied, “I will not let you go unless you bless me.” The man asked him, “What is your name?” “Jacob,” he answered. Then the man said, “Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel, because you have struggled with God and with humans and have overcome.”

Have you ever noticed the lines that say “the man could not overpower him” followed by he “touched” the socket of Jacob’s hip where it went out of place? If this man’s touch could throw out his hip, then what is it that could not overpower Jacob? I believe what was already within Jacob was empowered in that very moment to rise up into the man God always knew him to be. It was not that God didn’t have to power to overcome Jacob, it was that He wanted to empower Jacob to overcome himself. He went from Jacob to Israel overnight. One moment changed everything for him. For us, even. So… for [you], dear daughter, dear son, dear lifelong dreamer… what is that destiny of unrealbeauty, charm, and excellence that is within you that the enemy’s been trying to keep silent? Because in the transition from glory to glory, a shift not only happens around you but within you. God will pull things out of you creatively, He will speak to you tenderly, and He will reveal secrets that have been hidden within your heart you didn’t even know of. In the darkest of nights, He will pull you close and empower you into who He already knows is within you. You need only to not give up.As Luke 18:7-8 says: “Don’t you know that God, the true judge, will grant justice to all of his chosen ones who cry out to him [night and day?] He will pour out his Spirit upon them. He will not delay to answer you and give you what you ask for. God will give swift justice to those who don’t give up. So be ever praying, ever expecting, just like the widow was with the judge. Yet when the Son of Man comes back, will he find this kind of {persistent faithfulness} in his people?”Be persistent. Press on. Don’t let go. Keep wrestling. God will change you before the sun rises, for when the light comes, it will shine on the dreamer who has overcome. You will overcome this battle, this struggle, this too long of a night. You will see the break of day, and as you rise, all will rise. All will be well.Ps. Don’t forget: [You] are enough, because {He} is enough.xxKaytee
